Passage Emerges From Stealth With Biometric User Authentication Platform

Austin, Texas-based Passage this week announced that it has emerged from stealth mode with $4 million in funding and a public beta version of its biometric user authentication platform for developers.

Austin, Texas-based Passage this week announced that it has emerged from stealth mode with $4 million in funding and a public beta version of its biometric user authentication platform for developers.

Passage is developing a platform that enables application developers to add passwordless authentication functionality with only a few lines of code.

The platform leverages biometrics systems such as Face ID, Touch ID and Windows Hello, and falls back to magic links when biometrics are not available.

Passage says its solution can be easily integrated with popular tech stacks, and it works with various devices, browsers and operating systems.

The company claims its solution is ideal for security- and privacy-focused companies and individuals due to the fact that it does not store any face, fingerprint or other biometric user data.

The funding was led by LiveOak Venture Partners, with participation from Next Coast Ventures, Tau Ventures, Secure Octane, and various angel investors.

The investment will be used to expand the platform, including with additional authentication methods and extensibility features, and to hire more people.
