Tripwire Unveils Asset Discovery Appliances

Security solutions provider Tripwire on Wednesday announced the availability of Tripwire Asset Discovery Appliances, a high-performance device and application discovery solution designed to be easy-to-deploy on all types of networks.

Security solutions provider Tripwire on Wednesday announced the availability of Tripwire Asset Discovery Appliances, a high-performance device and application discovery solution designed to be easy-to-deploy on all types of networks.

The new solution comes with built-in integration with Tripwire Enterprise, the company’s change audit and threat detection solution, and is meant to provide organizations with improved security configuration management options.

Enterprise networks can be exposed to new security threats and exploits due to the addition of new IT assets, applications, and to end-point configuration changes, which can make it difficult for organizations to quickly identify and remediate security vulnerabilities, especially if they lack an accurate inventory of all assets and applications.

Tripwire Asset Discovery ApplianceAccording to the Tripwire, the newly announced Asset Discovery Appliances can profile all hardware and software on a network, and provide visibility into compliance status of enterprise assets.

With the help of the new tool, customers can create an inventory of all authorized and unauthorized devices and applications and can correlate at-risk application and asset changes in Tripwire Enterprise, the company says.

In addition to allowing enterprises to view devices and software on their network, Tripwire Asset Discovery Appliances provide a foundation for security configuration management and compliance processes, while delivering low bandwidth, non-intrusive host and network profiling.

“The rate and pace of change escalates daily, creating voids of detailed information about the assets that are connected. Managing cybersecurity risks with this degree of complexity requires exceptional visibility as well as the need to quickly discover and evaluate digital asset changes,” said Brian Engle, executive director of the Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center, referring to the fast expansion of business and their networks.

Tripwire was acquired by Belden for $710 million in cash in a deal announced in Dec. 2014.
