Neustar, Inc., a provider of information, infrastructure and security solutions, today announced that it has hired Jonathan Coombes as Chief Information Security Officer.
Coombes comes to Neustar from hosting firm Rackspace, where he served as Chief Security Officer and was responsible for the company’s global cybersecurity and risk management, physical security, and compliance strategies.
Coombes will be based out of Neustar’s Sterling, Virginia office and will put his more than 25 years of experience in information technology and security to use being responsible for Neustar’s cyber and data security, risk management and business continuity. Coombes will report to Alex Tulchinsky, senior vice president, Infrastructure and Operations.
“With Jonathan’s guidance, we will continue to look for opportunities to strengthen our processes and standards designed to protect the confidential data of our customers and our company,” said Tulchinsky.
Prior to Rackspace, Coombes held security leadership positions with USAA and IBM and has served in the military for over 30 years on both active and reserve duty and currently serves in a reserve capacity as a Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Coombes holds a masters degree in Information Systems from Boston University and an Executive MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
