Intel today announced the release of the third-generation Intel Core vPro processor platform, arming it with new security capabilities that embed security through every layer, including the silicon.

The latest version of the platform includes Intel OS Guard and Intel Secure Key. Teamed with Intel AES New Instructions, Intel Secure Key protects media, data and assets while OS Guard focuses on fighting malware. The platform is also protected by Intel Identity Protection Technology with public key infrastructure into Intel Core vPro processors.

In addition, to defend against identity theft, Intel has added its Identity Protection Technology with public key infrastructure into Intel Core vPro processors to embed a layer of authentication into the PC that allows websites and business networks to validate a legitimate user is logging in from a trusted PC using a private key stored in a PC’s firmware.

“With the 3rd generation Intel Core vPro processor platform, Intel is leading the way into a new era, delivering the comprehensive and manageable computing solutions to business that enable them to deal with security threats, while providing the flexibility and form factors users demand,” said Rick Echevarria, vice president in Intel’s Architecture Group, in a statement.

In addition to the enhanced security features, the new Core vPro processor platform also brings improvements in compute performance and media and graphics capabilities designed to meet the needs of compute-intensive applications in retail, industrial and healthcare industries.

The latest Intel Core vPro processor can be found in a number of devices, including Ultrabook, laptops, desktops and workstations.
