Security vendor FireMon has acquired Immediate Insight with an eye towards bolstering its network security intelligence capabilities with real-time security event analysis.
Founded in 2012, Immediate Insight combines natural language, machine learning and correlation in an interface to find relationships and anomalies in data. The goal behind the deal is to help enterprises, government agencies and others better identify gaps in their network security infrastructure and improve incident response.
“Immediate Insight has developed exciting new technology that expands our capabilities in a very strategic manner, allowing FireMon to deliver on a highly actionable, multi-tiered security intelligence model,” said Jody Brazil, CEO of FireMon, in a statement. “This technology has already proven its value in enterprise environments as a direct complement to our strategic technology partners. We’re extremely excited about the combination of these solutions and what this represents not only for FireMon, but also our customers and the industry at large.”
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Officials at FireMon said in a press release that Immediate Insight’s technology integrates search, analytics, and workflow for both structured and unstructured data, which enables teams to uncover otherwise unseen issues that elude existing tools and systems. In addition, the combination of the two companies’ technologies will help network operations and security management teams to deal with the heavy volume of event-related information that can obscure critical issues requiring attention, according to FireMon.
“Immediate Insight was founded to help organizations make better use of their data to rapidly discover issues creating real-world security and performance risk,” said Jeff Barker, founder and CEO of Immediate Insight, in a statement. “Our technology reveals data relationships and anomalies that users cannot identify on their own, improving productivity of shorthanded IT security and operations teams. We’re excited to be part of the team and bring together FireMon’s industry-leading security intelligence with Immediate Insight’s innovative data analysis to offer organizations unique insight into current and future security risks.”
Last year, Insight Venture Partners acquired a majority interest in FireMon.
