Zscaler, a provider of cloud-based security services, has hired Dr. Amit Sinha who will join the company as Chief Technology Officer to lead research and development initiatives of the company’s emerging technologies.

Amit Sinha ZscalerDr. Sinha comes to Zscaler from Motorola where he most recently served as Fellow and Chief Technologist of the Enterprise Networking and Communication business. Previously, he served as CTO of AirDefense, a wireless security company acquired by Motorola in 2008. Prior to AirDefense, he served as Co-Founder and Chief Technologist at Engim, a Wi-Fi semiconductor company.

“Markets are moving rapidly and mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets are playing a bigger role for enterprises and consumers. Amit’s expertise in wireless security will enable us to leverage Zscaler’s cloud infrastructure for the next generation of hassle-free, device-agnostic, mobile security,” said Jay Chaudhry, Zscaler CEO.

Sinha has authored over 25 papers, contributed chapters to three books, and is the inventor of 19 US patents granted or pending. He received his S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology where he was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for graduating summa cum laude.

As usage of mobile devices such as smartphones, netbooks, and tablet devices continue to grow, displacing PCs and laptops as technologies of choice among business users, Zscaler’s multi-tenant, distributed, cloud-based infrastructure provides security to end users regardless of where they are and what device they are using. Zscaler is based in Sunnyvale, California, with additional offices around the world.
