Trustwave, an information security and compliance solutions provider that recently filed to go public, today announced new features to its Unified Threat Management (UTM) service that provides critical network protection and address regulatory compliance requirements.
Trustwave’s UTM solution now includes network access control (NAC), vulnerability scanning and log management features in a single platform. The integrated solution allows Trustwave customers to reduce costs by meeting security objectives and compliance requirements with the same technology. Trustwave offers the UTM as a managed service, freeing IT staff from having to manage a hardware-based appliance.
Specific to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), these services help address requirements for Wireless Access Point detection and alerting (Requirement 11.1), quarterly internal vulnerability scanning (Requirement 11.2) and tracking and monitoring of all access to network resources and cardholder data (Requirement 10).
The following are benefits of the new services now available on Trustwave’s Managed UTM platform:
• Fully Integrated NAC: Detects unauthorized devices and network services for wired and wireless devices that connect to the network, uniquely identifying higher-risk devices, as well as unauthorized wireless access points.
• Vulnerability Scanning: Detects and reports on vulnerabilities for target devices on the network interior to enable proactive remediation, helping to minimize the risk of compromise.
• Log Management: Analyzes aggregated log data for anomalies helping with early detection of malicious or unauthorized activity.
“Security is like an onion, it has many layers. UTM devices have become a valuable component for the security practitioner by providing a platform for the centralized operation and management of diverse security functions,” said Charles Kolodgy, research vice president at IDC. “By adding capabilities to address some of the fastest growing security needs, Trustwave’s Managed UTM Service is making it easier for companies of all sizes to address all of their security and compliance demands within a single service.”
