Cybersecurity solutions provider Trend Micro this week announced the launch of new products designed to protect industrial control system (ICS) environments.

The new smart factory security solutions are meant to provide security across all layers of Industry 4.0, delivering mitigations for growing cyber risks in this area.

The number of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices that control and monitor industrial processes such as manufacturing is expected to continue to grow, the same as the number of reported ICS vulnerabilities, which went up 224% from 2017 to 2018.

Security incidents involving IIoT are expected to increase in numbers as well, and Trend Micro’s new security products aim to help organizations keep their operations protected and fortified.

The newly announced solutions are built by TXOne, a subsidiary of Trend Micro, and include an industrial firewall, EdgeFire, and an intrusion prevention system (IPS), EdgeIPS.

With these products, the security firm aims to limit the exposure of insecure communications channels and ensure systems are safe from vulnerability exploitation.

Customers will also gain visibility across installed OT equipment, courtesy of a security management console that connects with both the industrial firewall and IPS to help identify the cause of attacks.
