Samsung Announces Security Improvements for Galaxy Smartphones

New Samsung Galaxy features include protections for on-device AI, expanded cross-device threat detection, and quantum-resistant encryption for network security.

Korean appliance and consumer electronics giant Samsung Electronics this week announced fresh security improvements for upcoming Galaxy smartphones with One UI 8.

To keep the on-device AI-powered features protected, the company is introducing Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), a new architecture that confines applications to their own sensitive information through encrypted storage environments.

KEEP, Samsung says, protects users’ personal insights, such as preferences and routines, which are also secured by the on-device tamper-resistant hardware security environment called Knox Vault, along with other features that rely on user-specific inputs.

The tech giant also touts an improved Knox Matrix in One UI 8, which delivers proactive, user-friendly protection for connected Galaxy devices, and disconnects those flagged for serious risk from all cloud-connected services, while notifying the user and guiding them to resolve the issue.

Following the introduction of Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP) in the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is now bringing a fresh cryptographic framework to Secure Wi-Fi, to provide strengthened protections through post-quantum cryptography.

According to the company, Secure Wi-Fi uses a fortified secure tunnel connecting Galaxy devices to Samsung servers, and can withstand attacks attempting to capture encrypted data and break it using upcoming quantum technology.

Secure Wi-Fi includes an Auto Protect mode that activates when the device connects to public networks, and Enhanced Privacy Protection (EPP) to encrypt all internet traffic and routes, while offering visibility into protection history.

These improvements complement existing security features across Galaxy devices, including sensitive information protections through Knox Vault, the automatic blocking of unauthorized app installations, the option to disable online data processing for AI features, and protections that keep personal information safe in the event of theft.
