Resemble AI Raises $13 Million for AI Threat Detection

The cybersecurity startup will use the investment to accelerate product development and fuel global expansion.

Deepfake detection

Generative AI verification provider Resemble AI has announced raising $13 million in a strategic investment round that brings the total raised by the company to $25 million.

Founded in 2019, California-based Resemble AI has built an AI detection platform that helps organizations identify AI-generated deepfakes and prevent fraud and other types of attacks.

The company’s detection model, DETECT-3B Omni, can identify AI-based threats in real-time, across audio, video, still images, and text, and supports dozens of languages.

The platform, Resemble AI says, can protect against vishing, social engineering, and voice identity fraud, in real time, against all major AI voice cloning models.

The startup also offers Resemble Intelligence, a Google Gemini-powered platform that provides enhanced explainability for multimodal and AI-generated analysis.

Resemble AI says its solutions are already used by Fortune 500s and government agencies.

The company will use the new funds to accelerate the development of its AI detection platform, to fuel global expansion, and scale its capabilities.

Berkeley CalFund, Berkeley Frontier Fund, Comcast Ventures, Craft Ventures, Gentree, Google’s AI Futures Fund, IAG Capital Partners, Javelin, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, Okta Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Taiwania, and Ubiquity participated in Resemble AI’s investment round.

“The rapid improvements of Generative AI spawn new threats for enterprises and institutions to determine what is genuine and authentic,” Sony Ventures managing director Austin Noronha said.

“Resemble AI is addressing this critical cybersecurity need with an elegant solution offering strengthened trust, transparency, and safety spanning audio and visual deepfake detection across multiple foundational models,” Noronha continued.
