Rapid7 to Acquire Cloud Security Firm DivvyCloud for $145 Million

Boston-based security analytics and automation solutions provider Rapid7 said on Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire DivvyCloud, a provider of security and compliance automation solutions for public cloud and container infrastructure.

Boston-based security analytics and automation solutions provider Rapid7 said on Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire DivvyCloud, a provider of security and compliance automation solutions for public cloud and container infrastructure.

Rapid7 will pay roughly $145 million in cash and stock to acquire the company.

News of the acquisition leaked prior to the official announcement, but Rapid7 declined to comment when contacted by SecurityWeek early on Tuesday.

Founded in 2013, DivvyCloud provides solutions designed to help security, operations, and GRC (governance, risk management and compliance) teams identify security risks and automatically address them.

DivvyCloud had raised roughly $29 million in funding, including a $19 million growth round in May 2019.

Rapid7 believes that DivvyCloud’s platform will help customers securely move out of data centers and into the cloud, and make infrastructure accessible and manageable.

“Using DivvyCloud, customers can protect cloud and container environments from misconfiguration, policy violations, external and internal threats, and identity and access management challenges,” Rapid7 explained.

The acquisition is expected to close during the second quarter of 2020.

In addition to announcing the acquisition, Rapid7 provided preliminary estimates on revenue for the first quarter 2020, noting an expected range of $93.8 million to $94.0 million.
