OpenDNS, the company best known for its DNS service that adds a level of security by monitoring domain name requests, unveiled a new security platform and APIs designed to enable security vendors to integrate with OpenDNS’s network and extend their threat protection across any device in any location.
According to OpenDNS, the integrations increase an enterprise’s protection by combining the partners’ security intelligence with OpenDNS’s capability to provide global threat enforcement.
“They also alleviate the need for security professionals to develop their own custom integrations between security solutions, leading to lower operational costs,” OpenDNS said.
Using the new platform, customers can integrate threat intelligence from multiple sources and use that information to automatically protect users outside the corporate network.
New OpenDNS partners Check Point Software Technologies and ZeroFOX, along with existing partners, have already integrated into OpenDNS’s platform.
“We see vendor partnerships — such as the ones we are announcing today — as the best strategy for the security community to leverage our collective strength against advanced, targeted attacks,”said David Ulevitch, CEO of OpenDNS.
In July, OpenDNS enhanced its Umbrella cloud-based security service with capabilities designed to protect organizations against targeted attacks. The company also announced integration with FireEye’s Web Malware Protection System (MPS) earlier this year.
