New Enterprise Virus Protection for Mac Hits the Market

Security software company, Sunbelt Software, today announced the availability of VIPRE Enterprise for Mac, client software that provides virus protection against Macintosh-specific malicious threats.

With VIPRE Enterprise for Mac, users will be able to run both scheduled and on-demand scans and view quarantine and scan history. In addition to protecting against MacOS specific threats, the product will also be able to detect and clean any Windows-specific threats discovered on a Mac system.

Security software company, Sunbelt Software, today announced the availability of VIPRE Enterprise for Mac, client software that provides virus protection against Macintosh-specific malicious threats.

With VIPRE Enterprise for Mac, users will be able to run both scheduled and on-demand scans and view quarantine and scan history. In addition to protecting against MacOS specific threats, the product will also be able to detect and clean any Windows-specific threats discovered on a Mac system.

Part of the VIPRE Enterprise product line, VIPRE Enterprise for Mac provides support for Macintosh computers running Mac OS X “Leopard” versions 10.5.6 and 10.6 and above and was developed with a custom user interface to maintain the Mac OS look and feel.

“As the market adoption of the Macintosh platform continues to grow, so will the attention they receive from virus writers, making it all the more important to offer those users protection against threats,” said Alex Eckelberry, CEO of Sunbelt Software. “This is our first step in our support for the Mac platform, and is specifically targeted at enterprise customers. We are also planning for a release of a consumer/home version.”

The software is available as part of VIPRE Enterprise on a per machine basis. Pricing starts at $28.36 per seat for 100 workstations with a sliding scale volume discount based on number of machines.
