Metomic Lands $20M Series A for Data Security Platform

Evolution Equity Partners leads a new venture capital raise by the early-stage British data security startup.

Metomic, a British startup selling tools to automate data security tasks across cloud applications, has secured $20 million in Series A funding.

The London-based company said the $20 million financing was led by Evolution Equity Partners. Venture capital firms Resonance and Connect Ventures also joined as investors.

The company plans to use the capital to fuel ambitious expansion plans into the U.S. market and to continue creating technology to help organizations secure data in multi-cloud environments.

Metomic has raised approximately $25 million since launching in 2018 with a platform that provides no-code workflows to automate data policies across SaaS applications.

“Metomic is giving organizations visibility and control of their data across collaborative SaaS applications, including Google Apps, Slack, Jira, and Zendesk by connecting to the data layer of these popular work tools. It allows security professionals to see what data is being stored, where it is, and who has access to it,” the company said in a note announcing the funding round.

The company said it plans to grow staff significantly over the next year with sales and marketing functions positioned in the U.S. to expand that market. Metomic said about half of its customers are currently based in the United States.
