Medical Device Security Firm Cynerio Raises $7 Million

Cynerio, a provider of medical device and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) solutions, this week announced that it has raised $7 million in funding.

The company’s security platform provides visibility into clinical entities on a network and allows organizations to assess the risk associated with device behavior and detect anomalies with medical context consideration to stop malicious threats and increase patient safety and data security.

Cynerio was founded by cybersecurity experts Leon Lerman (CEO)and Daniel Brodie (CTO) to deliver a cybersecurity solution that is 100% designed for healthcare providers.

The Israel-based company says the funding will be used to fuel growth in North America.

“Cynerio is committed to protecting the future of healthcare by focusing on its weakest link – the connected medical devices and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). We are delivering a tailor-made, healthcare driven solution for providers to ensure patient safety and data protection while maintaining operational continuity,” explained Lerman.

The company has brought on advisers including Amichai Shulman, co-founder and former CTO of Imperva (recently acquired by Thoma Bravo for roughly $2.1 billion) and Dr. John Halamka, Harvard University’s International Healthcare Innovation Professor & Chief Information Officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Investors include global venture capital firms, Accelmed, RDC (a joint venture between Elron and Rafael), MTIP, a in digital health venture capital firm who is an expert in digital health.
