McAfee today announced that it has appointed Gert-Jan Schenk as president of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Schenk, age 43, reports to Michael DeCesare, executive vice president of worldwide sales for McAfee. Schenk started October 1, and is based out of the McAfee office in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Schenk joins McAfee from Juniper Networks where he served as senior vice president of EMEA. In this role, he managed close to 900 employees throughout EMEA. Schenk had been with Juniper Networks since 2002. Prior to Juniper, Schenk was vice president, channels, at Unisphere Networks (acquired by Juniper Networks in 2002). Earlier in his career, Schenk was director of channel sales, EMEA, at Redback Networks.
David Quantrell, McAfee’s current president of EMEA, has decided to pursue other business opportunities. He will stay on board for the next several months to during a transition period.
