Mobile security firm Lookout, Inc. announced on Thursday that Jim Dolce has taken the role as the CEO of the company, replacing Founder John Hering.
Dolce comes to the mobile security firm from Akamai Technologies where he was a senior executive selling cloud services to mobile network operators.
Hering will assume the role of Executive Chairman and work day-to-day on key strategic issues, with a particular focus on Lookout’s market strategy, product, partnerships, and leadership in the security community, the San Francisco, Calif.-based company said.

He’s been a long time leader in the enterprise and carrier worlds, and with the future of enterprise software being so tightly linked to mobile, Jim is well positioned to take Lookout into its next stage of growth,” Hering said in a statement.
Dolce has founded four companies, has experience managing both private and public organizations, and has led teams ranging from three to 3,000. He built Unisphere, which was sold to Juniper Networks, and played a key role in scaling Juniper to a multi billion-dollar revenue run rate from 2002-2006.

Dolce serves on the boards of privately held Benu Networks and RGB Networks, and is a Trustee of several nonprofit organizations. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering from University of Rhode Island.
With offices in San Francisco and London, Lookout says over 50 million users worldwide use its software to protect their mobile devices.
