UnitedHealth Group has appointed Tim McKnight as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The CISO change comes eight months after UnitedHealth subsidiary Change Healthcare suffered a highly disruptive ransomware attack that has impacted 100 million individuals. McKnight replaces Steven Martin, who was described as unqualified in the aftermath of the incident. Martin will take on the role of Chief Restoration Officer at UnitedHealth.

Zach Furness has joined MITRE as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He most recently served as Deputy CISO and Director of Cyber Risk Management at Children’s National Hospital. In his new role, Furness rejoins MITRE after working at the organization for more than 29 years before leaving to join Inova Health as Director of IT Security in 2018.

Vanderbilt University announced that Gregg R. Kendrick has been named Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He most recently served as CISO for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Previous experience includes roles such as his appointment to the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service, Naval Intelligence, where he was the executive director of Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command, and his appointment as deputy director of the National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force, and with U.S. Cyber Command.

AI-powered data security company Cohesity has appointed industry veteran Vasu Murthy as SVP and Chief Product Officer (CPO). With over 25 years of experience, Murthy will help Cohesity advance its AI-powered data security portfolio. Previously, he was VP of Products at Rubrik, after serving as VP of Products for the Analytics Platform at Oracle. With experience in data protection, security, and analytics, Murthy led software launches at companies of all sizes, from start-ups to global brands.

Joseph (Yossi) Tal has been appointed CEO of CyFox, a company that specializes in AI-based cybersecurity solutions. Tal will replace Roni Zarom, the company’s founder and main investor, who will become CyFox chairman. Prior to joining CyFox, Tal held leadership roles at Trellix and Citibank.
