Lisa Einstein has been named as the first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Einstein has led CISA’s AI efforts since 2023 as CISA’s Senior Advisor for AI. Since 2022, Einstein also served as the Executive Director of the CISA Cybersecurity Advisory Committee.
SentinelOne has moved Alex Stamos into the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) seat to manage its security engineering and operations teams. Stamos joined SentinelOne in November 2023 with the acquisition of the Krebs Stamos Group. He previously headed up security programs at Yahoo and Facebook.
Michael Sulmeyer has been confirmed as the US Department of Defense’s first assistant secretary of defense for cyber policy. Sulmeyer was nominated in March. He has been the principal cyber advisor to the chief of staff and the secretary of the US Army since March 2022. Prior to his role at the Army, Sulmeyer served at the US Cyber Command, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the National Security Council.
Charles Gifford has announced his new role as Vice President of Information Security at emergency communication services provider Intrado. Gifford previously held cybersecurity leadership roles at United Launch Alliance, Ball Corporation, and Charles Schwab.
Deltek, a provider of enterprise software and information solutions for project-based businesses, has appointed Becca Harness as Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead the company’s Global Information Security team. Prior to joining Deltek, Harness served as Vice President and CISO at Quickbase.
Threat intelligence management, security collaboration, and orchestrated response solutions provider Cyware has named Terrence Driscoll as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He most recently served as Managing Director, Global Head of Security and Controls Assurance for JP Morgan Chase & Company, and previously served as Senior Director at PayPal, Business Information Security Officer at Citadel, Advisory Board Member at CrowdStrike, and CISO at MacAndrews & Forbes.
Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that Tony Burke will be the country’s new Minister for Cyber Security. Burke is also Minister for Home Affairs, and Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. He replaces Clare O’Neil, who has been Minister for Cyber Security since June 2022.
