ForeScout Names Former Intel Security Exec Michael DeCesare as CEO

ForeScout Technologies, a provider of continuous monitoring and mitigation solutions, announced on Wednesday that it has named veteran security industry executive Michael P. DeCesare as its new chief executive officer.

DeCesare, former president of Intel Security, will assume the role of CEO at Campbell, Calif.-based ForeScout on March 2, 2015.

ForeScout’s flagship product, ForeScout CounterACT, provides real-time network visibility into users, devices including BYOD, systems and applications. The platform helps IT organizations better understand their security posture and automate responses to a wide variety of security issues.

Additionally, CounterACT allows other security products to exchange information and mitigate exposures. For example, through an integration partnership with Damballa, customers can automatically quarantine or log devices deemed ‘infected’ by Damballa.

DeCesare brings more than 20 years’ experience of leadership with multiple security and enterprise technology companies. Prior to his role with Intel Security, DeCesare held senior roles at EMC, Documentum and Oracle.

“The explosion of mobile devices, cloud and wireless access has thrown a giant spotlight on securing the network. This is where the action is, and the rapid growth of network security companies proves it,” said DeCesare.

“I’ve admired ForeScout’s technology as second to none, and there is no question that in the age of big breaches, ForeScout is poised to become a significant player with an important role in restoring trust and confidence in the digital environment. I couldn’t be more excited to join ForeScout and lead their march forward.”

“Michael DeCesare is a security industry trailblazer and the type of leader that will further drive ForeScout¹s success,” said ForeScout board member Enrique Salem, the former CEO of Symantec and current managing director at Bain Capital Ventures. “ForeScout brings a level of innovation and automation and the ecosystem needed to protect resources and data in today’s increasingly complex and challenging infrastructure and threat landscape.”
