Thirty-seven cybersecurity-related merger and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in December 2024. 

An analysis conducted by SecurityWeek shows that 178 cybersecurity M&A deals were announced in the first half of 2024, representing the least busy half year since SecurityWeek started tracking M&A deals in 2021.

Here is a list of the most important cybersecurity M&A deals announced in December 2024: 

AE Industrial Partners acquires Paragon

American private investment company AE Industrial Partners has acquired Israeli spyware firm Paragon, reportedly for $500 million. The deal’s value could reach $900 million. AE Industrial Partners plans to merge Paragon with Red Lattice, a US cybersecurity company.

Arctic Wolf acquires Cylance

Security operations firm Arctic Wolf has acquired Cylance endpoint security technology from BlackBerry. BlackBerry has agreed to sell Cylance assets to Arctic Wolf for $160 million of cash and roughly 5.5 million Arctic Wolf common shares. BlackBerry acquired Cylance for $1.4 billion in cash in 2018.    

Cisco acquires Snapattack

Cisco has announced its intention to acquire threat detection and defense company SnapAttack in order to boost Splunk security product capabilities. With SnapAttack, Splunk’s security products will get enhanced detection engineering, enhanced insights, and SIEM modernization.     

Citrix acquires DeviceTrust and Strong Network

Citrix has announced the strategic acquisitions of Germany-based DeviceTrust and Swiss company Strong Network. Citrix said the deals enable it to expand the zero trust security capabilities of its platform. Specifically, DeviceTrust provides real-time protection for VDI and DaaS users, while Strong Network provides a platform designed to secure cloud development environments.

Chainalysis acquires Hexagate

Blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis has acquired Hexagate, an Israeli provider of real-time web3 security and data API services, reportedly for $60 million. Hexagate identifies suspicious patterns and unusual transactions across blockchain networks in real-time, and the company will enable Chainalysis to provide a risk solution that includes prevention, compliance and remediation capabilities.

Fortinet acquires Perception Point

Fortinet has announced buying Israeli company Perception Point, a provider of solutions for securing email, collaboration platforms, web browsers, and cloud storage applications, which enable Fortinet to expand and enhance its offering.   

Gen Digital acquires MoneyLion

Gen Digital, the owner of several popular antivirus brands such as Norton, Avast, AVG and Avira, has acquired consumer finance company MoneyLion for $1 billion. Gen Digital said the addition of the MoneyLion platform to its offering will enable customers not only to protect their digital lives but also help them better manage and grow their financial wealth. 

OPSWAT acquires Fend

OPSWAT announced the acquisition of Fend Incorporated, a data pipeline and cybersecurity company specializing in securing operational technology (OT) against cyber threats. The deal broadens OPSWAT’s end-to-end cybersecurity product offerings in the field of data diodes and unidirectional gateway solutions. 

Pango Group merges with Total Security

Pango Group, which recently took over Kaspersky’s customers in the US following the Russian company’s ban, announced its merger with Total Security, provider of the Total AV antivirus product. The combined company will rebrand itself as Point Wild, whose brands include Total AV, HotSpot Shield, UltraAV, Betternet, CyEx, Simpluris, and Comparitech. Point Wild has an enterprise value of $1.7 billion.
