Cybersecurity M&A Roundup: 36 Deals Announced in August 2024

Thirty-six cybersecurity-related merger and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in August 2024.

An analysis conducted by SecurityWeek shows that 178 cybersecurity M&A deals were announced in the first half of 2024, representing the least busy half year since SecurityWeek started tracking M&A deals in 2021.  

Here is a list of the most important cybersecurity M&A deals announced in August 2024:

Ark acquires Vantyr

Cloud and cybersecurity firm Ark Infotech has acquired Vantyr, a company focused on securing non-human identities across cloud and SaaS environments. The deal follows Ark’s 2023 acquisition of Slauth.io and the plan is to integrate Vantyr’s technology with its existing Slauth platform. 

Check Point to acquire Cyberint

Check Point Software Technologies has agreed to acquire Cyberint Technologies, a company that fuses threat intelligence with attack surface reconnaissance. Check Point says the acquisition will enhance its SOC capabilities and expand its managed threat intelligence offerings. According to reports, the acquisition has been valued at roughly $200 million. 

Cisco to acquire Robust Intelligence

Cisco is in the process of acquiring Robust Intelligence, a California-based company that specializes in securing AI applications. Robust Intelligence technologies will be added to Cisco’s security and networking products. 

Cyber Advisors acquires BAI Security

Cyber Advisors has acquired offensive security testing, governance, risk and compliance solutions provider BAI Security. The deal enables Cyber Advisors to enhance its cybersecurity capabilities and expand its reach in the digital security, risk, and compliance market.

DigiCert to acquire Vercara

DigiCert has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Vercara from Golden Gate Capital and GIC. Vercara provides solutions designed to protect networks and applications against threats from the internet. The acquisition will expand DigiCert’s capabilities.

EQT to acquire a majority stake in Acronis

European private equity firm EQT will acquire a majority stake in backup software and data protection solutions provider Acronis. The transaction is pending regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in 2025.

Exiger acquires aDolus and XSB

Supply chain and third-party risk management company Exiger has announced two acquisitions: aDolus Technology, which provides a software supply chain risk visibility platform, and XSB, a logistics intelligence platform. The aDolus deal enables Exiger to enhance its capabilities, and the plan is to use aDolus’ ability to generate SBOMs and analyze binaries for software provenance. 

Experian acquires NeuroID

Experian has acquired behavioral analytics company NeuroID to enhance its fraud detection capabilities, including for AI-enabled fraud. NeuroID’s technology has already been integrated into Experian solutions.  

Fortinet acquires Next DLP

Fortinet has announced buying data security and insider risk company Next DLP. The plan is to integrate Next DLP’s data protection platform and AI-based anomaly detection and classification capabilities to strengthen Fortinet’s data loss prevention offerings.

Mimecast acquires Aware

Email and collaboration security solutions provider Mimecast has bought collaboration security platform Aware. Mimecast is embedding Aware’s technology into its human risk management platform to strengthen collaboration security and compliance offerings. 

OPSWAT acquires InQuest

Critical infrastructure protection firm OPSWAT has acquired InQuest, a company that specializes in network security. The deal enables OPSWAT to enhance network analysis and threat intelligence capabilities.
