Thirty-five cybersecurity-related M&A deals were announced in February 2023

Thirty-five cybersecurity-related merger and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in February 2023.

An analysis conducted by SecurityWeek shows that more than 450 cybersecurity-related mergers and acquisitions were announced in 2022.

Accenture acquires Morphus

Professional services giant Accenture has acquired Brazil-based cybersecurity firm Morphus, which provides penetration testing, governance, compliance, risk management, threat intelligence, and managed security services. The acquisition will enable Accenture to expand its cybersecurity footprint in Latin America. 

Almond acquires Amossys

Cybersecurity, cloud and infrastructure consulting services provider Almond has announced buying all shares of cybersecurity consulting and evaluation company Amossys. Both companies are based in France. The transaction is part of Almond’s expansion efforts. 

eBay acquires 3PM Shield

E-commerce giant eBay has acquired marketplace compliance solutions provider 3PM Shield in an effort to enhance its fraud detection capabilities. 

Francisco Partners acquires Sumo Logic

Cloud monitoring, log management and SIEM solutions provider Sumo Logic has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by private equity firm Francisco Partners for $1.7 billion. Sumo Logic will become a private company as a result of the transaction. 

Network Intelligence acquires services business of Ilantus Technologies

US-based cybersecurity training and managed services provider Network Intelligence announced purchasing the services business of India-based identity and access management (IAM) firm Ilantus Technologies. The deal enables Network Intelligence to expand its service offering.

Radiant Logic acquires Brainwave GRC

Identity data company Radiant Logic is acquiring France-based Brainwave GRC, which specializes in identity governance and administration. The deal will help Radiant Logic strengthen its position in the identity governance and analytics market and boost its market share in various parts of the world. 

Redwood Software acquires Cerberus

Business process automation firm Redwood Software has acquired secure file transfer solutions provider Cerberus in an effort to expand its automation and managed file transfer portfolio.

Rejlers acquires Three Kings

Engineering consultancy firm Rejlers is strengthening its data protection and cybersecurity offering for mission-critical environments through the acquisition of cybersecurity consulting company Three Kings from Flamia Oy. Both companies are based in Finland. 

Seon acquires Complytron

Fraud prevention company Seon has acquired compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) firm Complytron in an effort to create a unified AML, anti-fraud and fincrime platform. Seon reportedly paid somewhere in the region of €2.5 million ($2.6 million) for Complytron. Both companies are based in Hungary. 

Uptime Institute acquires Leet Security

US-based Uptime Institute, which helps companies assess and improve their digital infrastructure, has acquired Spain-based Leet Security, which provides an independent cybersecurity risk evaluation methodology and rating system. The deal will enable Uptime to offer a comprehensive cybersecurity rating system. 

Wavenet acquires Fidus Information Security

Unified communication solutions provider Wavenet has acquired penetration testing consultancy Fidus Information Security in an effort to strengthen its penetration and security testing capabilities. Both companies are based in the UK. 

Zscaler acquires Canonic Security

Cloud security firm Zscaler has announced plans to acquire Israeli early-stage startup Canonic Security to expand its services into the software supply chain security business.

Angoka acquires R4darTech

Angoka, an Ireland-based security company that specializes in protecting smart cities and connected and autonomous vehicles, has acquired R4darTech, a UK-based firm that provides integrated imaging radar solutions for autonomous vehicles. The deal should help both companies improve in their respective fields. 

CDW acquires Locus

Tech company CDW has announced buying Locus Recruiting, a consulting firm specializing in information security, cloud computing, networking and infrastructure. CDW said Locus expands its access to talent and helps it ensure it can continue delivering cloud, security and networking services. 

Cisco acquires Valtix

Cisco plans on acquiring cloud network security platform Valtix in an effort to enhance its Security Cloud offering. The Valtix team will join Cisco’s Security Business Group.

EQT Partners acquires majority stake in SK Shieldus

Sweden-based investment company EQT Partners has announced plans to own a 70% stake in SK Shieldus, a South Korean company that provides physical security and safety and cybersecurity products and services. 

Kaspersky acquires 49% stake in Ximi Pro

Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has acquired a 49% stake in Russia-based container security solutions provider Ximi Pro. The deal will enable Kaspersky to enhance its cloud security offering and extend its upcoming XDR solution.

Lumine Group acquires Titanium

Lumine Group, which acquires and grows communications and media software companies, announced plans to buy Titanium, a firm that helps telecoms and government organizations build out global carrier networks and secure private communication services. Lumine said Titanium will help it enhance its signaling and security software portfolio. 

Okta acquires Bad Packets

Identity and access management (IAM)company Okta has acquired threat intelligence firm Bad Packets. Okta told SecurityWeek that Bad Packets’ extensive honeypot network will be used to bolster Okta’s customer identity focus, threat insights, and overall technology offering. “Bad Packets brings incredible knowledge from the threat intelligence space that will be leveraged internally as well as within the Okta/Auth0 product offerings,” Okta said.

Trend Micro acquires Anlyz

Trend Micro has acquired India-based security operations center (SOC) technology provider Anlyz in an effort to expand its orchestration, automation and integration capabilities. With this deal, Trend Micro also adds a new R&D center in India.
