Internet infrastructure services provider, Afilias, has expanded its Managed DNS services with the launch of its new FlexDNSSM Platform.
The FlexDNS platform expands Afilias’ existing Managed DNS service with new features for registrars and others offering Web services, or for users who have a need to make frequent changes to their DNS in an automated fashion.
Afilias’ FlexDNS Platform now allows customers to utilize either a Web Portal, AXFR, or API to manage DNS.
The new Application Programming Interface (API) can help customers such as domain name registrars integrate Afilias’ DNS offering into their own interface for ease of use, or to offer the API as a value added or premium DNS service.
With AXFR, customers can update their DNS frequently with an automated solution that reflects changes worldwide in near real time. The AXFR option allows customers to act as a “hidden master” and transmit their updates to Afilias via AXFR. AXFR is especially useful for customers with large zones, like TLD registries, and it provides service in either a Primary or Secondary DNS role.
Afilias’ traditional Web portal is available for customers with smaller domain portfolios and enables them to manage their DNS settings through a web based interface. It offers customization options including multiple user groups, domain folders, Web-based reporting, bulk import, advanced permissions, and SMS notifications.
“Our FlexDNS platform provides an ideal solution for corporations as well as other managed service providers like hosting companies or domain name registrars who need to easily integrate a secure and reliable DNS network to augment their product offering,” said John Kane, Vice President of Corporate Services for Afilias.
