Veeam to Acquire Data Security Firm Securiti AI for $1.7 Billion

The acquisition will unify data resilience with DSPM, privacy, governance, and AI trust across production and secondary data.

Data portability and resilience solutions provider Veeam Software on Tuesday announced plans to acquire data security posture management (DSPM) company Securiti AI for $1.725 billion in cash and stock.

Veeam provides backup, disaster recovery, and data management solutions covering virtual, physical, and cloud environments. The company claims to have more than 550,000 customers worldwide.

Securiti AI provides data security and governance solutions, helping organizations comply with global privacy regulations, automate data security, and manage risks across multi-cloud and decentralized data environments.

The acquisition of Securiti AI will unite their capabilities and enable Veeam to “eliminate the challenge of managing fragmented data across apps, clouds, SaaS, endpoints, and backups”.

Rehan Jalil, the founder and CEO of Securiti AI, is set to join Veeam as President of Security and AI after the transaction closes, likely in the fourth quarter. Prior to Securiti AI, Jalil founded Elastica (merged with Blue Coat and later acquired by Symantec for $4.7 billion) and WiChorus (acquired by Tellabs for $180 million).

“We’ve entered a new era for data. It’s no longer about just protecting data from cyber threats and unforeseen disasters; it’s also about identifying all your data, ensuring it’s governed and trusted to power AI transparently,” said Anand Eswaran, CEO of Veeam.

“This is the single most critical factor in failed AI initiatives. By combining the market-leading strengths of Veeam and Securiti AI, we bring those capabilities together in a single solution to help customers understand, secure, recover, and rollback, and unleash their data to drive new business value,” Eswaran added.
