On Monday, Americans commemorated the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks through solemn silences, emotional reflections, and calls to educate younger generations about the tragic events of that day.

The 9/11 attacks were coordinated Islamist suicide terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States on September 11, 2001.

9/11 Day was created shortly after the September 11th terrorist attacks by David Paine and Jay Winuk. David and Jay wanted something good to come from the loss of so many lives in the 9/11 tragedy, including Jay’s younger brother, Glenn, an attorney and volunteer firefighter who was killed while responding at the World Trade Center.
