Radware to Acquire Bot Mitigation Firm ShieldSquare

Cyber security and application delivery solutions provider Radware on Monday announced plans to acquire bot management company ShieldSquare.

Cyber security and application delivery solutions provider Radware on Monday announced plans to acquire bot management company ShieldSquare.

Founded in 2014, ShieldSquare offers a cloud-based bot management solution aimed at helping businesses distinguish between human and non-human traffic (bots) on both websites and mobile applications.

The company protects businesses in 70 countries from threats such as web scraping, form spam, skewed traffic analytics, and much more.

Following the acquisition, Radware plans to offer ShieldSquare’s bot management and mitigation product under the new Radware Bot Manager portfolio. It will integrate with Radware’s attack mitigation solution to provide advanced protection from emerging and automated attacks.

“More than 50% of the Internet traffic today comes from bots, and while we’ve seen an increase in bot-based attacks in recent years, ‘good’ bots still play an important role in applications’ operations,” said David Aviv, Radware Chief Technology Officer.

“As such, organizations need to look for bot management solutions that not only effectively detect and mitigate bot attacks, but also can accurately distinguish between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bots in real-time,” Aviv concluded.

The acquisition, which is subject to customary closing and regulatory conditions, is expected to be finalized during the first quarter of 2019.
