A Vermont-based security start-up, Pwnie Express, will be in Vegas this week showcasing their hardware during Black Hat and Def Con.
For those unfamiliar with the company, they produce some of the most innovative penetration testing tools on the market.
Pwnie Express tools are a mainstay for a good deal of freelance pen testers, as they enable physical and network security audits. This week, the company will showcase their Power Pwn, an 8-port fully functional power strip, which doubles as covert hacking tool.
The Power Pwn includes 16GB of internal storage, and is preloaded with Debian 6, Metasploit, the Social Engineer Toolkit (SET), and more than a three dozen other security focused, penetration and auditing tools.
The company’s original product, the “Pwn Plug”, was its first commercial pentesting dropbox. “This portable device was designed to provide security professionals a cost effective method to conduct internal network security (penetration) testing remotely,” the company explains.
“Testing can now be conducted by simply sending this plug-and-play device to the remote location that is to be tested. The value proposition is simple – Reduce the time and cost of remote internal penetration testing. Our products are commonplace in many security consultant’s cyber security tool-boxes, deployed in several United States federal agencies, and in use in multiple global fortune 50 enterprises.”
