Orca Snaps Up Opus in Cloud Security Automation Push

Orca positioned the deal as an expansion of its capabilities into the realm of AI-based autonomous remediation and prevention.

Cloud data security vendor Orca Security on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Opus Security, an Israeli startup hawking technology for AI-powered cloud security orchestration and remediation.

Financial terms of the transaction were not released.

Orca positioned the deal as an expansion of its technology capabilities beyond risk identification and prioritization, moving into the realm of AI-based autonomous remediation and prevention.

Opus, which launched in 2022 with $10 million in seed capital from YL Ventures, has found success using artificial intelligence in a platform that automates and orchestrates cloud security remediation.

Founded by Meny Har and Or Gabay, former executives at Siemplify (acquired by Google Cloud in 2021), Opus said its platform integrates with existing security tools and orchestrates the entire remediation process across all stakeholders and organizational environments, based on easily deployed guidelines and playbooks.

For Orca, the plan is to integrate the Opus technology to heavily automate the detection, prioritization and mitigation of risk for enterprise customers.

“This is the next big leap for Orca and the cloud security industry,” said Gil Geron, CEO  and co-founder of Orca Security. “We’re moving into the  era of intelligent action, where cloud security problems are not just seen, but solved  automatically.”

Orca, which competes head-on with Google-owned Wiz in the cloud data security space, was most recently valued at $1.8 billion after raising $210 million in a Series C funding round.
