Cyberattack Prompts Ahold Delhaize to Disconnect Systems

The company says it took some of its systems offline to contain a security issue within its network.

Dutch-Belgian grocery giant Ahold Delhaize has disconnected some of its systems in response to a cyberattack.

In a bare-bones notice on its website, the company revealed that it identified a security issue within its network, triggering incident response.

“Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue. This includes taking some systems offline to help protect them,” the company said.

Ahold Delhaize said its stores remain open and that its ability to serve customers has not been affected.

“Protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates, and partners is a top priority. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners,” it said.

According to local media, the preventive measures impacted deliveries and online orders at Albert Heijn and Delhaize brands in Belgium and the Netherlands. Stores in the US appear to have been affected as well.

It is unclear if the incident is related to the cyberattack that hit refrigerators and freezers in hundreds of supermarkets across Europe over the weekend.

SecurityWeek has emailed Ahold Delhaize for additional information on the attack and will update this article if the company responds.

In November 2024, Ahold Delhaize was hit by a cyberattack that impacted Giant Food pharmacies and Hannaford supermarkets, as well as Food Lion, The Giant Company, and Stop & Shop.

In April 2025, just as the INC Ransom ransomware group took credit for the incident, the company confirmed that data was stolen from its systems.

In June 2025, Ahold Delhaize notified regulators in the US that the personal information of more than 2.2 million individuals had been compromised in the ransomware attack.
