CreditRiskMonitor, a provider of intelligence and analytics for credit and supply chain professionals, has disclosed a data breach impacting employees and contractors.
The company told the SEC on Tuesday that it detected unauthorized access to its network on July 19. An investigation showed that the attacker could have viewed or copied personally identifiable information belonging to employees and independent contractors.
CreditRiskMonitor said customer information was not affected and the incident has not had a material impact on its operations.
Impacted individuals are being offered 24 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
It’s unclear if the attack was carried out by a ransomware group. No known cybercrime gang appears to have taken credit for this recent incident.
However, it’s worth noting that CreditRiskMonitor was named as a victim back in late 2022 by the Cuba ransomware group. The hackers at the time claimed to have obtained financial documents and were threatening to leak the stolen information.
No information appears to be available on that attack and the Cuba ransomware group seems to have been inactive since February 2024. Its Tor websites are offline.
