Canadian Startup Protexxa Attracts $10 Million Series A Financing

Canadian cybersecurity startup Protexxa closes a $10 million Series A funding round that brings the total raised to $15 million.

Canadian cybersecurity startup Protexxa on Tuesday announced the closing of a $10 million Series A funding round that brings the total raised by the company to $15 million.

Bell Ventures, Bell Canada, and Sandpiper Ventures provided the new capital, with additional investments from BKR Capital, Export Development Canada, The Firehood Angels and Graphite Ventures.

Protexxa Defender, the company’s AI-powered security platform, provides a health score that organizations and their employees can improve upon by identifying exposed secrets and other common cyber issues.

The company also provides customers with tailored incident response plans, and with personalized training and consulting for organizations worldwide.

Protexxa will use the new investment to advance engineering and data science innovations on the platform and increase sales and marketing teams as it seeks global expansion, especially in the United States.

According to the company, its enterprise solution is growing in popularity among organizations in the financial, healthcare, and telecommunications sectors.

“When it comes to cyber crime, most leaders think they’re outnumbered, underfunded, and ill-prepared. The fastest way to change that narrative is to activate their greatest strength: people. Protexxa prioritizes people through assessments and training that improve cyber hygiene and create more secure organizations,” Protexxa CEO Claudette McGowan said.

Founded in 2021 by information technology and cybersecurity executive Claudette McGowan, the B2B SaaS startup helps organizations improve cyber defenses through individual cyber hygiene.
