CA Technologies today announced that it has hired Michael Denning as general manager of its Security business.

Denning comes to CA Technologies from VeriSign, Inc., where he spent the last 11 years. Most recently, Denning led VeriSign’s Enterprise Security Services, with functions ranging from sales and marketing to service delivery and research and development. VeriSign’s Security Business was acquired by Symantec earlier this year for $1.28 Billion in Cash. Denning’s experience delivering a platform for managed service providers is important to CA Technologies IAM strategy for continued on-premises and cloud service development. Denning will be based at CA’s New York City office.

Denning replaces Dave Hansen, who has accepted a new position leading the businesses that comprise CA Technologies distributed enterprise IT management portfolio. Both Denning and Hansen report to David Dobson, executive vice president and group executive, Customer Solutions Group, CA Technologies.

“With his deep security expertise and record of outstanding leadership, Mike is ideally suited to lead our team as we advance Identity and Access Management into the next generation – whether deployed on premise or as a cloud service – and grow our IAM business with both enterprise customers and emerging markets,” said Dobson.
