Wyse Technology today announced an expanded strategy involving thin and zero client computing, desktop virtualization, unified communications, and mobile access to virtual environments. Wyse will work with key partners including Citrix, IBM, Microsoft, VMware and others, along with its resellers, to deploy what the company characterizes as “a broader set of options for government, business and education.”
The strategy includes support for five models of virtualization/cloud computing for private, public, or hybrid clouds, or the endpoint itself:
• Session virtualization, including Citrix XenApp and Microsoft RDS
• VDI, including Citrix XenDesktop, Microsoft VDI Suites, and VMware View
• Cloud PC, including Citrix Provisioning Server and Wyse WSM
• Web apps, using a light browser client
• PC-sharing, including Microsoft MultiPoint Server 2010
It also has three other components.
• Software solutions organized in three categories: management, virtualization, and cloud software
• An expanded firmware offering including Windows and Linux, with exclusive Wyse-developed firmware technologies, Wyse ThinOS™ and next-generation zero client engine Wyse Zero™, offering devices with instant-on, self-management, and malware immunity
• Wyse’s line of cloud clients, including thin clients, zero clients, and cloud PCs in stand-alone and mobile formats.

Separately, Wyse announced the formation of a Mobile Cloud Business Unit (MCBU), a distinct unit within the company designed to research, develop, and market products and services that serve mobile users on next generation mobile devices. MCBU will be led by Daniel Barreto, GM, Mobile Cloud Business Unit at Wyse.
