Wiz Joins Google Cloud as Landmark Acquisition Closes

Google has completed its $32 billion acquisition of the cloud security giant, which will maintain its brand.

Google acquires Wiz

Cloud security giant Wiz is joining Google Cloud in a landmark deal that officially closed today, March 11, 2026.

The companies have not shared any new information on financial terms, but they previously said it was a $32 billion all-cash transaction.

The announcement comes exactly one month after the European Commission announced its unconditional approval of the acquisition under the EU Merger Regulation. The deal passed an antitrust review in the United States in November 2025.

Wizz technology enables Google to significantly enhance its cloud security capabilities.

“Together, we will offer an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that combines Google’s Threat Intelligence and Security Operations with Wiz’s Cloud and AI Security Platform to detect, prevent, and respond to threats across all environments,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “Security teams can detect emerging cybersecurity threats created using AI models, protect against threats to AI models, and leverage AI models to accelerate threat hunting and threat response.”

Importantly, Wiz will maintain its brand and will continue to provide cybersecurity solutions for all major cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

“Now, as one team with Google Cloud, we have the opportunity to accelerate our roadmap in ways that simply weren’t possible before. By integrating the most cutting edge AI capabilities into the Wiz platform, we’ll continue to give security teams new superpowers,” said Assaf Rappaport, the CEO of Wiz.

Rappaport added that Wiz will soon share additional details on enhancements powered by Google, including the use of Gemini AI.

According to Calcalist, the deal is set to provide massive payouts for Wiz’s international backers. Index Ventures, the startup’s largest outside shareholder with a 12% stake, is on track to collect roughly $3.8 billion. Other significant beneficiaries include Sequoia Capital, whose 10% ownership translates to approximately $3.2 billion, and Insight Partners, which is expected to receive around $2.9 billion. Greenoaks is also a significant investor, with a 6% stake that would yield $2 billion at close.

The deal also secures a massive payout for Wiz’s workforce: its 1,800 global employees hold equity valued at roughly $3 billion. Google has also committed $1.5 billion in combined cash and stock retention bonuses for staff who stay with the company post-acquisition.

Google Cloud is also the home of incident response and threat intelligence specialist Mandiant, which the company acquired in 2022 for $5.4 billion.
