Trend Micro Updates Hosted SMB Protection Suite

Trend Micro has released version 5 of its Business Security Services (BSS) suite, tagged with the moniker of worry free, which for the majority of mom and pop operations is exactly what they need.

Trend’s BSS is an easily managed suite of tools, encompassing anti-virus, anti-spam (including Phishing), web management, and data protection, that is designed for real small businesses. Prices start at the 2-25 seat level for yearly contracts. It’s a hosted offering, so the employee’s client is protected no matter where they are – on or off the network.

Version 5 updates the client and management interface, making it easier to navigate various sections, while adding improved workflows and the ability to customize asset tracking with tags. The asset tracking plays into the workflow, as users can track a device by name, company email address, or other unique ID, and granularly adjust settings on the fly for that one client.

Software-wise, version 5 adds support for Windows 8 and Server 2012 Essentials, Android, and Mac OS X. The previous layers, including website filtering, USB scanning, QuickBooks support, privilege management, and Wi-Fi protections are all present.
