Sophos announced today that it has acquired cloud-based mobile security firm Mojave Networks.

Founded in 2011 and formerly called Clutch Mobile, San Mateo, Calif.-based Mojave has said that customers can deploy its mobile security solution in under 10 minutes and gain insight into application usage, data flow, network analytics and malicious threats.

Mojave raised a $5 million round of funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) in November 2013.

According to Sophos, Mojave will add a cloud-based web security solution to Sophos’ cloud-managed security offering. For Sophos’ network security hardware appliances, the acquisition will help offer hybrid deployment options (SaaS and non-SaaS).

Furthermore, Sophos says that Mojave’s technology will allow Sophos customers to benefit by providing:

• A cloud-based web filtering engine enabling full protection for web interactions without requiring additional on-site technology

• Near instantaneous protection from emerging threats by supplying real-time threat intelligence from the cloud

• A management experience designed for small and mid-market enterprises or pragmatic enterprises of any size

• A zero-compromise approach to security across Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, delivering context-awareness, visibility and seamless protection whether they are on or off the corporate network

Sophos said that it plans to integrate Mojave Networks’ technology into its Sophos Cloud product line in early 2015 and then later in 2015 into appliance-based network security solutions.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
