RSA is rolling out a number of improvements to its DLP suite, designed to provide organizations with more control and improved detection when it comes to managing data loss across the network and managing connected devices, including tablets and smartphones. In addition, the enhancements offer visibility and the ability for organizations to make more educated decisions around security and governance.

Organizations are faced with the task of securing massive amounts of sensitive information throughout an expanded infrastructure while, at the same time, battling threats from inside and out that bypass traditional security measures. Whether sensitive data is accessed via desktops, smartphones, laptops, or tablets, stored in Big Data repositories, or provisioned through virtual applications and virtual desktops, the changes to RSA’s DLP suite are focused on better control and visibility.

“Companies of all sizes are seeking the business benefits of advances in disruptive technologies such as social, mobile and cloud – including collaboration, agility, productivity, innovation, higher growth and lower cost. At the same time, most companies are aware that there are associated risks related to security, privacy and compliance of their data that must be managed,” said Derek Brink, the vice president and research fellow for IT Security at Aberdeen Group.

The focus of the changes in the DLP suite address the risks that come from virtualized datacenters and consumerized technology. When end users connect to corporate assets using their own consumer grade smartphones, tablets, and personal computers, the new and improved suite can better track the dataflow, no matter if it comes from ActiveSync, OWA, or if the flow starts from a virtualized end point and passes to a physical device.

“Aberdeen’s research confirms that the top performers are the ones who balance this risk and reward, who view DLP not as a technology but as an important element of an enterprise-wide security management program that can scale to help them cope with information explosion and business growth,” Brink added.

The RSA DLP Suite 9.0 will be generally available in December 2011, more information is here
