Nominees Named for Inaugural Class of The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame

The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame announced this week that 24 individuals have been nominated and confirmed by the Board of Advisors and peers for consideration for the 2012 class.

The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame announced this week that 24 individuals have been nominated and confirmed by the Board of Advisors and peers for consideration for the 2012 class.

“Beginning in 2012 and in each of the next ten years, a number of individuals will be enshrined in the National Cyber Security Hall of Fame at a black tie event recognizing and celebrating their contributions to the evolution of the cyber security industry,” the organization said in a statement.

The organization said that over 250 leaders in the cyber security industry were nominated this year.

The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame was created to “Respect the Past-Protect the Future” and build the educational awareness around those individuals that have created significant advancements in Cyber Security in the areas of technology, policy, business, education and public awareness.

Those nominated and being considered for 2012 include: Dorothy Denning, Roger Schell, Peter Neumann, Carl Landwehr, Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, Len Adelman (RSA), Alan Paller, Willis Ware, James Bidzos, Bruce Schneier, Whit Diffie, Martin Hellman, Ralph Merkle, Ron Ross, Vint Cerf, Jim Anderson, John Thompson, Matt Bishop, Roger Needham, Howard Schmidt, Dan Kaminsky, Lynn McNulty, and Dan Geer.

The first class will be enshrined on October 17, 2012 at the National Cyber Security Hall of Fame event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore.

The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame organization has been created and is being supported by companies and organizations committed to recognizing the individuals that played a key role in the creation of the Cyber Security Industry.
