Mobilisafe Targets BYOD Trend With Cloud-Based Risk Management Solution

Security startup Mobilisafe officially launched its new cloud-based mobile risk management solution Monday to help IT identify and eliminate the significant risks associated with the Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) trend.

Mobilisafe’s service offers real-time, agent-less vulnerability management, and as part of the launch, is inviting companies to get a free mobile risk assessment with a downloadable desktop application. The assessment provides a snapshot of all mobile devices connecting to a company’s network as well as an overview of any risks these devices present.

Based in Seattle, Mobilisafe, is backed by blue-chip investors Madrona Venture Group, Trilogy Equity Partners and T-Venture. Customers deploy Mobilisafe software components onto their existing servers to aid the cloud-based offering in the discovery of devices, monitoring and assessment of risk and enforcement of access controls. Identifying device with outdated firmware is a serious issue, the company said, citing a recent study it conducted that found 64 percent of iOS devices and 40 percent of Android devices are running out-of-date firmware.
