Live From DerbyCon – Day Two

LOUISVILLE – DerbyCon – Day two of DerbyCon, which is the only full day of the event (9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), is taking place in the downtown area of a foggy and overcast Louisville, Kentucky. The weather is the only thing gloomy, as attendees were up early and moving around the conference, despite the fact that many of them (your faithful scribe included) are running on very little sleep.

Aside from the talks, DerbyCon also has a lock picking area. Lock picking is a theme that many security conferences have picked up over the last few years, as lock sport grows in popularity. There’s nothing illegal about lock sport, but many enthusiasts agree to follow a code of conduct, which obviously includes the fact that they will not pick locks for malicious purposes.

Here are a few images from the lock picking village.

As mentioned yesterday, a game of Capture the Flag has been running all weekend. After a full day, one team has clearly gained a solid lead on the others. Here’s the scoreboard as of 11:00 a.m.

That’s all for now, we’ll update this afternoon with more from DerbyCon.
