Internet security company Kaspersky Lab today announced Kaspersky ONE, a “Universal Security” solution that helps users protect a wide selection of platforms and devices with a single license.

With the offering, customers can protect multiple devices, including desktops, laptops, smartphones, and Android-based tablets.

As Kaspersky Lab points out, owning multiple web-connected and portable devices has become commonplace. Everyone seems to carry a laptop or tablet in one hand, a smartphone in the other and have a desktop at home. But security for all of these devices is often an afterthought, creating weak links in your personal digital security.

Kaspersky ONE can be used to protect desktop and laptop personal computers running Windows® or Mac OS X®, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile or BlackBerry smartphones, and Android-based tablets.

After Kaspersky ONE has been installed, customers have full access to Kaspersky Labs’ latest databases of threat information, updating client software automatically.

The move by Kaspersky Lab to offer a unified security solution follows a similar announcement from Symantec earlier this month when the company announced Norton One, a personalized service that protects consumers across multiple devices.

Kaspersky One will be available on October 17th for online order, or at Best Buy, Staples, and retail locations in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland.

A one-year licenses of Kaspersky ONE will cost $79.95 for three devices, $99.95 for five devices, and $149.95 for ten devices.
