iSIGHT Partners, a provider of cyber threat intelligence services, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Idaho-based Critical Intelligence, a provider of threat intelligence for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) owners and operators.
The acquisition, which was completed on Mar. 19, brings five employees from Critical Intelligence to iSIGHT. The Critical Intelligence brand will disappear and become consolidated into iSIGHT’s ThreatScape intelligence offerings, the company told SecurityWeek. As a result, iSIGHT aims to offer predictive and actionable intelligence integrated into customers’ security controls to ensure the safety and reliability of systems that run the world’s infrastructure.
Critical Intelligence, which counts three of the largest electric utilities in the world as customers, along with multiple clients across the Fortune 500, discovers vulnerabilities and threats to critical infrastructure systems, including supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and other process control systems.
The founders of Critical Intelligence started what eventually became the DHS ICS-CERT, Bob Huber, president at Critical Intelligence, told SecurityWeek.
The acquisition comes just three months after iSIGHT announced that it has closed a $30 million Series C funding round with Bessemer Venture Partners.
“Demand for cyber threat intelligence continues to accelerate as more and more enterprises recognize that they cannot counter sophisticated cyber threats through technology alone,” said CEO John Watters at iSIGHT Partners. “With the increased threat concerns for organizations that own and manage critical infrastructure or operate important manufacturing systems, an intelligence-led approach to cyber security is critical.”
“We’ve analyzed more than 1,000 ICS-specific vulnerabilities, have kicked-off law enforcement investigations and provided continuous, adaptive intelligence to some of the largest owners and operators around the world,” said Huber, who will become a Senior Director at iSIGHT. “We are thrilled to be joining the iSIGHT Partners team to further our mission.”
The terms of the acquistion were not disclosed.
