IBM today announced new software to deliver security to thousands of laptops, PCs and servers globally — automating some of the most time-intensive IT tasks.
The new software, delivered through IBM’s recently closed BigFix acquisition, identifies all of a company’s PCs, laptops, servers, point-of-sale and virtualized devices wherever they are, and then flags when devices are not in compliance with corporate IT standards.
It enables organizations to see, change, enforce and report on the security policies and system configurations of all their endpoint devices in real time. this includes those not continuously connected to the corporate network.
The product’s dashboard displays all virtual and physical assets in a single place, and according to IBM, can make the proper fixes across as many as 500,000 machines in minutes. Access is role-based according to key functional areas such as endpoint management, security, audit compliance, provisioning or IT operations.
IBM closed its acquisition of Big Fix in July. Today’s announcement represents the company’s first integration of BigFix technology into its larger security portfolio.
