HID Helps Developers Speed Product Design and Development Using HID’s Embedded Reader Platforms

HID Global, the company most commonly known for its security access card readers, today launched developer services for products using the company’s embedded reader platforms. The “modular” service options are designed to streamline the engagement process and make it easier for customers to leverage HID’s embedded technologies and industry expertise, reduce development costs, and accelerate the product integration, test and certification process.

Developers can now work with HID Global using a service package that best meets their needs, at a fixed price. The company is offering three different developer services levels including:

• Standard Services: This basic set of services enables HID Global customers to more effectively utilize the company’s technology. It includes technical and help-desk support, return merchandise authorization (RMA) and training through the HID Academy.

• Professional Services: This comprehensive and homogenous package adds integration, design-in, testing and certification services, plus individual access to development specialists. Rigorous testing support includes validating custom antenna performance for reader core products, and performing environmental cross-checks inside customer housings. Certification support includes facilitating all required FCC, CE and other relevant certifications prior to customers sending their products to accredited certification authorities.

• VIP Services: The highest level of technical support, VIP Services adds priority response for all service requests. A member of the HID Global development team is assigned as a dedicated contact person for all questions regarding technical issues.

HID Developer Services Plus also includes access to an on-line Development Center.

HID Developer Services Plus is initially available for customers using the company’s identiCLASS and veriCLASS embedded reader platforms, and will be expanded to include the company’s other embedded technologies in the future. It is an integral part of the Genuine HID value proposition to provide a unique set of value-added customer and partner advantages that leverage the company’s worldwide development and marketing strengths, along with the industry’s interoperable secure identity, payment and ticketing solutions with a strong delivery and response platform.

“Developers using HID’s embedded technologies are a key link in the end-to-end, Genuine HID value chain spanning product development, marketing and support,” said Dr. Selva Selvaratnam, senior vice president and chief technology officer with HID Global. “We have pioneered an innovative services offering that anticipates developer needs and gives them a quick path to all of the support they need in order to speed reliable, high-quality, fully-certified products to market. Developer Services Plus enables our partners to concentrate on their core design competencies and leave the rest to us.”

HID’s predefined service packages initially focus on e-government applications (such as passport and ID terminals, plus readers and airport check-in kiosks), and cashless payment applications (including automatic fare collection and ticketing systems, payment kiosks, point-of-sale and handheld terminals, ATMs, and vending machines). The packages span all of the various support options that developers need to quickly move forward and complete an embedded system project.
