Good Technology Focuses on Mobile Service Management With Acquisition of BoxTone

Good Technology, a provider of secure mobility solutions, today announced that it has completed its acquisition of BoxTone, a provider enterprise mobile solutions with a focus on mobile service management.

Good originally announced its plans to buy the company on February 23, 2014, during the Mobile World Congress conference in Barcelona.

As a result of the acquisition, Good says it can now deliver real-time monitoring service on its platform across Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone devices.

Part of the Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform, Good’s mobile service management offers customers real-time end-to-end visibility and support by proactively monitoring multiple mobile services through a ‘single pane of glass’ including Good for Enterprise (GFE), Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, BlackBerry and messaging proxy services, the company said.

Good and BoxTone have been partners since 2012, and while some product offerings overlap, Good Technology’s top executive said BoxTone’s mobile service management is what really excited the company about the deal.

“The [Mobile Device Management] market is cluttered and very commoditized, but the mobile service management space is actually very unique,” Christy Wyatt, President and CEO of Good Technology, told SecurityWeek in February.

“Mobility, for a long time was kind of an island,” she said.

“You have all of your service level agreements for all of your mission critical applications—then you have mobile.”

“It’s critical that mobile gets the same quality of service as every other screen in the enterprise,” said Wyatt, who previously served as Global Head of Citi’s Consumer eBusiness and Mobile Technology and as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Motorola Mobility’s Enterprise Business Unit.

“Customers see the benefits of broad mobility deployment, but may have concerns about the ability to provide the service level agreements associated with other mission-critical IT services,” Wyatt said in a statement. “With BoxTone’s mobile service management integrated in the Good platform, we deliver an end-to-end secure mobility solution with an open architecture to support customers’ mobile journey to enterprise-scale – reliably and cost efficiently.”

Good’s new mobile management solution is available as part of the Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform or independently, the company said.
