The Canadian government has recently been under cyber attack, resulting in foreign hackers gaining access to classified government information, according to a report from CBC News of Canada.
Additionally, CBC News says sources have confirmed that the attackers successfully penetrated the computer systems at the federal government’s the Finance Department and Treasury Board and managed to take control of computers in the offices of senior government executives as part of an attempt to gain access to other government data systems.
It was also reported that cybersecurity officials shut down all Internet access in both departments in an attempt to prevent data loss.
