Dell on Tuesday announced a series of new security solutions and services aimed at helping enterprises implement new security strategies and protect and backup endpoints.
At the Dell World conference, the company revealed a technology preview of the Dell SonicWALL APT Protection Service, a new offering to help customers protect against targeted cyber attacks.
Built on multi-layered sandbox technologies that leverage system emulation and virtualization techniques for threat detection, Dell said the solution leverages the SonicWall GRID cloud forensics platform to access real time analytics from over 500,000 next-generation firewalls (NGFWs).
Dell also announced the integrated management of its X-Series networking switches through the Dell SonicWALL firewall interface, allowing customers to enforce security policies across the network from a single console. The company also added Cyren anti-virus signatures to its SonicWALL Email Security release 8.2, adding multi-layer AV protection to Dell Hosted Email Security and Email Security appliances and software.
Additionally, Dell has released One Identity Cloud Access Manager 8.1, which adds SaaS-based, multi-factor authentication. The updated version, designed to provide customers with secure access to all internal and cloud-based web applications, is set to become available worldwide on Oct. 28.
Dell Security Solutions also announced three new additions to the Dell Data Protection (DDP) portfolio, namely Dell Data Protection | Cloud Edition 2.0, Dell Data Protection | Server Encryption, and Dell Data Protection | Endpoint Recovery.
Dell Data Protection | Cloud Edition 2.0 enables enterprises to encrypt data and enact policy control when data travels from endpoints to public cloud platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive for Business, Box, and Dropbox. Businesses retain control of their encryption keys in order to ensure seamless collaboration between their employees.
Dell Data Protection | Server Encryption offers software encryption for Windows servers in branch or remote offices such as state and local government offices, retail outlets and law offices, offering increased data protection on vulnerable servers. With the help of Dell Data Protection | Endpoint Recovery, businesses can benefit from continuous backup for laptops, desktops and tablets.
Dell SecureWorks has made the on-demand Emergency Cyber Incident Response (ECIR) capability general available for customers deploying assets on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, Dell Services introduced Dell AEGIS, a tool that can help companies discover and assess vulnerabilities in mission-critical applications, and which complements Dell’s Managed Security Services, meant to help organizations protect information across public and private cloud, networks, hosts and applications.
Also at Dell World, the company announced the Dell Data Protection | Rapid Recovery solution, meant to capture an entire application and its relevant state, for complete recovery, along with Endpoint Recovery, a software solution with proven IP, designed to offer continuous backup and fast, easy endpoint recovery. Rapid Recovery includes “Rapid Snap for Applications” technology, “Rapid Snap for Virtual” capabilities, and a Rapid Recovery Repository (R3) with encryption and client-side deduplication, while offering support for cloud providers like Amazon, Microsoft Azure, RackSpace, and OpenStack.
At the conference, Dell announced a handful of other products as well, including the Dell Storage SC9000 storage array controller; the Dell DSS 7000 dense storage server, which is the first Dell Datacenter Scalable Solutions (DSS) product; Dell DSS 1500, DSS 1510 and DSS 2500 1U and 2U servers; new Dell Storage Center 6.7 array software; and the next wave of Dell XC Series of Web-scale Converged Appliances.
