DB Networks, a company focused on database security solutions, today announced that it has raised $17 million in new funding led by Grotech Ventures.
Through its various products and technologies, DB Networks helps customers gain new insights and situational awareness of their database security and core network attack surface, allowing them to take proactive actions and reduce the risk of a data breach.
The company also provides “intelligent continuous monitoring” technology to help customers quickly detect attacks against databases.
According to Chairman and CEO Brett Helm, the additional funding will allow the company to drive innovation and expansion of the company’s product portfolio, and scale the business.
The funding round also included investment from investors Khosla Ventures and Citi Ventures.

DB Networks also announced that Joe Zell, general partner at Grotech Ventures, has joined its Board of Directors.
Last week, the company added new continuous monitoring features to its DBN-6300 appliance, which uses machine learning and behavioral analysis technologies to help organizations improve their data center security posture. The DBN-6300 satisfies continuous monitoring and breach detection compliance requirements specified in NIST 800-53, PCI DSS, COBIT DS5.5, HIPAA and GLBA, the company said.
In October 2013, DB Networks introduced a security appliance that provides an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) specifically designed to detect and block SQL injection attacks.

Customers of DB Networks include the world’s largest financial institutions, healthcare providers, manufacturers, government agencies, and the military.
