A total of 11 cybersecurity-related acquisitions were announced between July 9 and July 19, 2021.
Container security company Aqua Security has acquired tfsec, an open source security scanner for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The scanner will be integrated into Aqua’s Trivy product to add IaC security scanning capabilities, but it will also remain a standalone project that will be added to Aqua’s suite of open source tools. Tfsec’s co-founders will join Aqua as cloud engineers following the acquisition.
ASGN Incorporated acquires IndraSoft
ASGN Incorporated, a provider of IT services and professional solutions, announced buying IndraSoft Inc., which provides cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions to the U.S. government. The goal of the acquisition is to expand ASGN’s customer base and relationships with government agencies. IndraSoft’s 220 consultants will join ASGN’s ECS Missions Solutions business unit.
Avantus Federal acquires Occam’s Razor Technologies
NewSpring Holdings-owned Avantus Federal (formerly E3/Sentinel), which provides mission-focused services and solutions to the U.S. government, acquired Occam’s Razor Technologies, which specializes in computer network exploitation, cyber research and development, and acquisitions (hardware, software and exploits). The acquisition will help Avantus Federal expand its capabilities.
Enea acquires AdaptiveMobile Security
Sweden-based Enea, a company that provides software components for telecommunications and cybersecurity, is acquiring Ireland-based AdaptiveMobile Security, which specializes in securing mobile networks and messaging services, for roughly €45 million ($53 million). AdaptiveMobile Security will continue to operate under its own brand and will become a new business unit within Enea.
ID Technologies acquires Attila Security
Government IT solutions provider ID Technologies has purchased Attila Security, which develops data security products for government and private sector organizations. Attila will be integrated into ID Technologies’ Archon secure solutions division in an effort to add product IP, technical capabilities, new customers, and greater sales capacity.
Intrepid acquires Darkblade Systems
Intrepid, which provides cybersecurity, intelligence and data analysis solutions to U.S. intelligence agencies, has acquired intelligence solutions company Darkblade Systems. As a result of the deal, Intrepid’s size will nearly double, and Darkblade will help the company expand its cybersecurity, electronic warfare, and counter-UAS [unmanned aircraft systems] capabilities.
Nexon Asia-Pacific acquires Computer Systems Australia
Australia-based cloud and managed services provider Nexon Asia Pacific acquired tech services company Computer Systems Australia (CSA). Nexon said the acquisition will accelerate its strategic growth objectives and strengthen its cloud, network and cyber capabilities.
OPSWAT acquires Bayshore Networks
OPSWAT, which specializes in cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure, announced the acquisition of industrial cybersecurity company Bayshore Networks. OPSWAT has acquired all assets of Bayshore Networks to expand its critical infrastructure protection capabilities to OT environments. Bayshore’s products and employees will become part of OPSWAT.
Sweden-based cybersecurity assessment company Outpost24 acquired Spain-based threat intelligence firm Blueliv. Outpost24 said the acquisition will enable it to offer an advanced threat landscape monitoring solution that can help organizations reduce risk exposure.
Patria Investments acquires NeoSecure
Patria Investments, a Latin American alternative asset manager, acquired cybersecurity firm NeoSecure from asset management firm The Rohatyn Group. NeoSecure has operations in Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.
Thrive acquires S7 Technology Group
Managed services and cybersecurity provider Thrive acquired S7 Technology Group, which offers tech solutions for the financial services industry. Thrive said S7 customers will gain access to its cybersecurity, Microsoft digital transformation, and hybrid cloud offerings as a result of the acquisition.
